Interesting Airport bus at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
I saw rather different airport bus in Washington DC. The Dulles International airport doesn't have any aero bridge or the airport buses and step ladders that we are used to. They have this train like looking coaches, which can lift up and down.
When an aircraft arrives, this coach is driven to the door, raised to the door level and attached directly to the aircraft door. No step ladders involved. Passengers get into the bus, the the bus is lowered, driven to the terminal, where it is fed into the building door directly. Passengers then follow the terminal path for immigration and baggage collection.
No aerobridges needed, no ladders- kind of different experience.
