VietJetAir suspends BLR and HYD operations
Update: I am given to understand that cancellations were due to permission issues. India and Vietnam do not seem to have bilateral agreement to offer direct flight between Hyd, BLR and Vietnam. It was VietJetAir's mistake to start accepting bookings without required permissions in place. Few of my friends who were affected have managed to reschedule via Mumbai or get refund. The airline seem to be fine otherwise.

VietJet Air, with whom I flew to Phu Quoc in September for INR 15300, had expanded India operation to Hyderabad, Bengaluru etc, offering direct flights to Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Hanoi, HCMC etc.
I was thinking of one more trip to Vietnam (Da Nang) in 2023 if I can get a 10600-11000 INR return ticket from BLR. I had seen tickets for as low as 13000 for November 2022, but was waiting for similar deal in 2023.
Suddenly the airline has decided to cancel all scheduled flights from Bengaluru and Hyd. Website is not showing any flights
Flights are still available from Mumbai and Delhi. Not sure if they also will be cancelled.
VietJet Air has also announced flights from Ahmedabad but AMD airport is still not showing up on their website.
I am not sure why VietJetAir did this. Thousands of Indians have started visiting Vietnam now thanks to VietJet Air's cheap tickets and easy eVisa process. I am sure they had decent bookings. If occupancy is a problem they could have reduced frequency- like only 1 flight per week instead of 3- a bit of inconvenience but better than cancelling entire trip. Financially they seem to be doing well. Only reason I could think of is they found some other destination to fly to and make more money than they are able to make in India's Hyd and BLR.
Many people who had booked from Hyderabad and Bengaluru have got emails stating their flight is cancelled. Their option now is to take a full refund or credit shell (which is useless if airline is not committed to India operations). VietJetAir doesn't have a call center in India- so for Indians it is only email support or make an expensive international call without knowing if call center staff there can speak English or not.
This will cause trust issues with VietJetAir as airline has not explained any reason for suddenly suspending Hyd and Blr flights. There is a 12000 INR return ticket from Mumbai but I am not sure if they will cancel some flights from Mumbai in coming months

I am facing the similar issue, My flights booked for 14th Nov 2022 from Bangalore to Hanoi has been cancelled but E-Visa is granted.. Don't know for what joy, i am experiencing too much difficulty in getting in touch with the airline faculties. My return tickets are also with them.. 9 passengers and its a huge loss if they do not refund.

DeleteIt is so disheartening, we have booked tickets to Mum-Hyd-Hanoi 23rd Oct and return Ho Chi Minh-Phu Qoc-Mum on 30th. Now, it is showing both flights cancelled and we are being asked to pay 88 thousand extra for alternate flights. When Originally we had bought the tickets for 72 thousand. We booked both ways tickets from cleartrip and outbound 25 Oct flight is partially cancelled by the airline from HYD to SGN(Vietnam) and cleartrip is saying that we have to wait for 24-48 hours for any update. They don't even know that this flight is cxnl by the airline, they asked us to send them an email with attached image from airline that our flight is cxnl. There is no surety for full refund or rebooking. 3rd parties websites are never supportive. Our inbound flights are fine because that is from malindo air. This is ridiculous, these airline is making fun of us and our money. The trip is next week everything is paid and booked.

DeleteWe have a similar problem with VietJetAir, we have an entire trip booked separately from different Online travel agencies. Now one segment shows as cancelled to HYD from Hanoi and others does not have any clue as it shows confirmed tickets. No response from Airlines for our emails and the phone has no answer or busy all the time. Travel agents are not taking any responsibility and asks us to contact airlines. Looks like we are just waiting for Achche Din.

DeleteWe also booked VietJet from cleartrip and easemytrip and after getting the mail from Vietjet we contacted these 3rd party websites and they are not ready to even acknowledge the fact that the flight is cancelled even after sending them the respective mail. This looks like a scam scenario and we all should really take some stern action since the amount is also a huge one.

Yes, all flights out of BLR and HYD are cancelled. May be they are cancelling in batches- like October flights first, Nov flights next etc to avoid customers flooding for refund. Check if you can make a fresh booking for same date- if not it is cancelled.

If the Airline or the Booking dos not pay the Courts can ask the Airline and the Booking sites to shut down their business in India,

ReplyDeleteMinistry of Civil Aviation have assigned specific cities as Points of Embarkation for Vietnam. Bangalore and Hyderabad are not a part of that list, which means VietJet can't operate out of Bangalore and Hyderabad. That is the reason why flights out of both these cities are being cancelled by the airline.

DeleteI have booked my flight from SGN ho chi minh to Bengaluru through a Indian app. As now the flight is cancelled by airlines I raised refund request but they denied by saying that the flight is still there and not cancelled. They also say that they have no reroute option. DeleteI used MMT for booking . My flight was on Dec 17. When I raised a request they told in the system it shows everything operational. But when I told I am sure they proactively followed up first with the airlines and then automatically cancelled and I got my full refund in 3-4 days

ReplyDeleteI faced same situation, after multiple trys, what worked for me is given below.
ReplyDelete1)Called clear trip, they are least bothered ( raised a case Id number) every time a new representative with new information and lack of knowledge. Some Even said flight is operational. And wait period of 48 hrs.
2) call clertrip ask them to connect to airlines, as our calls don't connect.
3)also keep handy the contact number received on ticket from Viet jet and not on cleartrip issued mail/ticket. May ask for verification.
4)While talking keep the registered mail logged in on another device.
5) after verification of all details the verification fails on phone number
Coz you cannot connect from your phone and it's connected through clertrip or makemy trip or by third party.
6) Tell the representative that it's connected by agent , the representative will help by asking to immediately send mail mentioning change of phone number displayed, there and grant change/ refund request. But you should be able to do it in one single call.
My travel date was 30 oct from bali to hyd.
Got rescheduled on 1 st nov bali to Mumbai .
The call time with Viet jet was approx 30 minutes.
Flight cancelled from Bangalore to Hanoi date 30th November. As per the email the itinerary can be changed to other location and guess Delhi will be the best option. Have sent an email to skd@vietjetair.com as per their

The call center numbers are never answered. Even if they do the replies will be to "send an email" which will never be attended. Should have booked through a different airline in the first place.

You can contact customerservice@vietjetair.com with your ticket and get the departure or arrival changed to Delhi/Mumbai. This email id is the actual customer service email id which can help with change or refund

You can also drop an email to delres.vj@bird.in asking for the flight to be rescheduled. I was flying to Bali via Hanoi from Bangalore but now, I have rescheduled it from Ahmadabad with no extra cost. Sadly, I will have to fly to Ahmadabad which is cheaper than cancelling the whole journey.

Has also received Reservation code.Yesterday I received an update from bank as the money is credited against RVSL DT. Upon checking for the flight, it is still active and no email of cancellation from them. Not sure what needs to be done next. Also not sure if the flight has been cancelled/ not operational. And today when I checked the price for the exact same dates it's showing extra approx 10k
